Greetings from the Founder of State of the Heart, LLC
Hello! I am Claire Fanning, a Registered Nurse with ten years of hospital experience. I am also a Certified American Heart Association Instructor. My instructor certifications include Basic Life Support and Heartsaver® from the AHA; and Stop The Bleed from the American College of Surgeons.
Although CPR is a skilled intervention no one wants to need to perform or receive, I fully appreciate how essential proper CPR training is before someone needs it.
Life emergencies often spur great fear, panic, and risk of ineffective response. With State of the Heart, LLC CPR & First Aid Training, I strive to promote more confident and skilled responses for anyone with a heart.
I received my nursing degree from New York University and have worked directly with patients, fellow hospital staff, and patients’ families to help deliver the best care possible.
I am privileged to have worked alongside many great mentors and also to serve as a guide to new nurses as they navigate their way in a demanding profession. The hospitals I have served include:
- South Shore University Hospital - Bay Shore, NY
- Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center – Honolulu, Hawaii
- Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center - New York, NY
- Good Samaritan University Hospital - West Islip, NY
I have gained a lot of insight from both those with more experience than me and those with less, and I work to bridge the knowledge gaps that I have come to recognize. I first learned about first aid and CPR during summer lifeguard training at age fifteen, and my own understanding of it has since evolved with my direct experience performing it as a nurse, especially during some time in the emergency room. I have seen firsthand how the beginning stages of a patient’s care can carry a lot of weight in their ultimate life outcomes, and with better education in circulation, we can all become more effective responders to those in need.
